India V/s Pakistan - The Baap Of All matches

Cricket can’t get bigger than this, beating the Ashes rivalry and even the World Cup finale. Emotions were flying high everywhere way before the first ball was bowled. Even if you are not a Cricket follower, you could still smell the difference in the air which was ignited by buzzing online jokes, SMS’s and PM’s invitation. Sweet and bitter memories were the talk of the town.  The air was charged with dynamite and everybody was ready to be blown over.

Students bunked their school, colleges; even the professors followed them. People rushed back to their homes early as there was 65% absenteeism on jobs. Nobody followed the Sensex past 2.30 pm. The entire country was in a holiday mood with shops being closed, fewer vehicles on road. Even the PM and Gandhi family was on a break from running the country. Ads slots went for 5 times higher the cost that the advertisers are paying for the World Cup finale.

Never having lost against Pak in World Cup, India were the favorites. Proving it right India registered a comfortable win over Pakistan with Sachin bagging the Man of the Match for his crucial innings. Pakistan was outplayed by India in all the 3 fields – batting, bowling and fielding.

Now India faces an uphill task ahead of itself in Mumbai to tackle the 3M’s of Lanka – Mendis, Murli and Malinga. India needs to go back in history and repeat it’s Ram – Raavan story with Hanuman setting the Lankans on fire.

The Girl Next Door!!!

The name is Nafia. She is resplendent. Her stare is as shining as the sun when it sets in the sea. Ahhh....those beautiful eyes....and her smile....oh...god...men will die in desperation....Her hair, Summer-short, yet shining...Sometimes, she comes to our home....She likes being with us....Brings along with her a big-bucket full of happiness and a stunning smile that illuminates the house in entirety.

Always wears a T-Shirt and a short skirt or a petite trouser. Slightly chubby yet charming. Lazy. Otiose. An example of innocence at it's extreme best. She always likes to stay with us on weekends. Though her Mom is our house-owner, it's still mattered dime a dozen for us. We just had a ball!

But these days, she is not around. Her mom is preparing her for an interview it seems. Yesterday, as luck might have it, I got a chance to listen to her, preparing for interview on D-Day. Her mom was busy stuffing an almost rotten-roti into her throat but she is even more busy in making a desperate attempt to recall the answer to an important question. She seems tense as it appears to be the FIRST interview of her life. I peeped across the window as she spills it out, one by one. A...B.......C.....

Bet out this Cup....

Since the World Cup started there have been certain predictions which went around. One of them which came true was the circle of life :-

India              beating  Bangladesh
Bangladesh  beating  England
England        beating  South Africa
South Africa beating  India

Another interesting fact which went around after India tied with England :-

Till now Dhoni has won 3 major tournaments - Twenty20 World Cup, IPL and Champions League Twenty20 all of them being 20 overs match. In all the 3 tournaments, Dhoni's team tied up in 1 one of the league matches that it played.

This one's interesting -

Since 1992 every time an Asian team lands up in the World Cup finals. Pak and SL both have won the Cup once and lost it once.

Pakistan - 2 times in final (92,99)
Sri Lanka - 2 times in final (96,07)
India - 1 time in final (03)

So according to this piece of fact its India's turn to land up in 2011 World Cup final and win it.

My belief is that the final would be either - India V/s South Africa
                                                                   India V/s England
In any case India is gonna win the Cup.

Any comments ...???

Here's an amazing commercial website with an idea so fabulous...

It is designed to increase the number of twitter followers. It offers a credit-based system that allows a user to follow others to gain credits and lets others follow you to use up those credits. You can set how many credits you'd like to place yourself on. You can also buy credits for dollars. You can also blog about the website to earn credits. The site is all about Internet Marketing.

Amazing... isn't it?

Bug-less product from Microsoft

I have witnessed a fwd e-mail sent across continents stating the below pretty woman as the only bug-less or best product from Microsoft. Though they claim her Bill Gates' daughter, for the fun factor, it really isn't true!

Someone, so smart did this to poke Bill!

The internet is overloading with the doubted news of this lady being the daughter of Bill Gates, Jennifer Katharine Gates.…..Is it required to tell who is Bill Gates?!

The lady in the picture is simply impeccable. But one thing is for sure. This could not be his legal daughter because as per records Bill gates had tied the knot on 1st January, 1994 with Melinda French from Dallas, Texas.

They have three children: Jennifer Katharine (1996), Rory John (1999), Phoebe Adele (2002).
Now logically Katherine should be of 13 years, and this stunning beauty by no means qualifies the age parameter. It has been referred that she is Alyson Stoner, Max fame, The suit Life of Jack & Cody.

Some are also in a view that she is Hollywood actresses Rachael Leigh Cook.

Who so ever has forwarded the idea has done a tremendous job to rethink over Bill gates personal life.

Anyways the lady is just gorgeous enough to stare and reload the beauty traffic.

Holi-Day!!!

Holi - the festival of colors - is undoubtedly the most fun filled and boisterous of Hindu festival. It's an occasion that brings in unadulterated joy and mirth, fun and play, music and dance, and, of course, lots of bright colors!

During Holi, practices, which at other times could be offensive, are allowed. Squirting colored water on passers-by, dunking friends in mud pool amidst teasing and laughter, getting intoxicated on bhaang and reveling with companions is perfectly acceptable. In fact on the days of Holi, you can get away with almost anything by saying, "Dont mind, it's Holi" (Bura na mano, Holi hai).

The Festive License
Women especially, enjoy the freedom of relaxed rules and sometimes join in the merriment rather aggressively. There is also much vulgar behavior connected with phallic themes. It is a time when pollution is not important, a time for license and obscenity in place of the usual societal ans caste restrictions. In a way, Holi is a means for the people to ventilate their 'latent heat' and experience strange physical relaxations.

History behind Holi
The main day, Holi, also known as Dhuli Vandana in Sanskrit, Dhulendi, Dhulandi or Dhulheti is celebrated by people throwing colored powder and colored water on each other. Bonfires are lit the day before, also known as Holika Dahan(Burning of Holika) or Chhoti Holi. The bonfires are lit in memory of the miraculous escape that young Prahlad accomplished when Demoness Holika, sister of Hiranyakashipu, carried him into the fire. Holika (had a boon that she could never get burnt) was burnt but Prahlad, a staunch devotee of god Vishnu, escaped without any injuries due to his unshakable devotion.

If wishes come in rainbow colors then,
I would send the brightest one to say Happy Holi

WOOOWW!!!

is what every Briton would have said after Windies experienced the British winds that blew them point blank. As the match made its course, Roars of Bangla Tigers (riding on Windies fate) were turned into Meows by Treadwell and Swann.

The Beginning
In a ding-dong battle, England wasted a good start (79-1 in 11 overs) and lost its way in the middle (151-6). At that point in the match, Tigers would have been pleased to their core as they could literary see their chances brighten up. But the Britons did well to take their tally to 243 but it was not enough to win the match.

Almost lost it
England missed their strike bowlers (Little Stuart and Mr. Anderson) when Windies blasted them off for 58-0 in 8 overs. Gayle, Sammy and Russell all 3 went for the kill and almost succeeded in their motive before they were caught in the web of Spin.

Climax
21 runs needed in 52 balls with 4 wickets in hand – Turned into - 4 wickets in 11 balls conceding only 3 runs.

The real looser here were Bangladesh who were gutted by Swann in his last over. In order to stay alive they need to defeat SA which is going to be an uphill task for them.

Discounted Offers @

Some of the websites which I visit often and offer good deals are below.
  • upto75.com: Its a multicity website.  The deals are often for registered customers.  It is free to register on the website.  The offers by them are ok.
  • retailmenot.com: It actually hosts coupons from the users who upload them.  So it may or may not work for you.  It has got an extensive list of websites but beware not all the coupons would work for you.
  • fishthedeal.com:  It offers a single deal a day.  Usually the products available are mostly from IT/Electronics background  at a great discount.
  • buytheprice.com:  Recently they received funding from investors. This Hyderabad based company offers discounts at various websites and their prices are the lowest among all Ebay and allied websites. The shipment is fast.  The number of products offered by them is currently less but they are expanding their portfolio.  They offer deals in which prices decrease as more number of people purchase the same product.
  • apnacashback.com:  Every website offers some commission for referring them and this website offers a part of the commission to the user back.  So apna cash back.  Deals i would say are ok with some good websites in its kitty like flipkart, cleartrip and others.  Do register if you are concerned even for your last penny
  • tradus.in:  This website is a sister website of ibibo.com and offers good discounts on various products. Their prices are at comparison with Ebay and sometimes even less.  Discounts coupons can be found on many websites.
  • goibibo.com:  This website is also a sister website of ibibo.com.  It offers flights and holiday booking for travellers.  With discount coupons, it offers prices which are even less than the operators website (like spicejet).  Usually Travelocity offers the cheapest rate in the travel segment.  But this website with its discounts is among the cheapest.  It also offers referral scheme where you can earn money by booking tickets for you and your friends.  (If you are a heavy user of flight, you can become my affiliate)
  • Khojguru.com: They have recently received funding from investors to expand their services.  They dont charge anything to the user.  All the deals are free and charge the user in points which they can acquire by adding friends in their network.  Previously good deals used to appear on this website but currently it seems they have lost their luster.
So have fun and Happy shopping saving.
Will appreciate or any commets on the list.  If you know any other good websites, please share through the comments section.

Bangla roars with Beer Maggie

Continuing my blogging stint with the World Cup 2011, Bangla Tigers changed the entire outlook of Group B by defeating England. Never did I believe that Bangladesh would topple England after losing their 8th wicket.

Throughout the match there was a rainbow of emotions that made the buzz worldwide. After reducing England to 53/3, Trott and Morgan managed to speed up the innings and 270 was on the cards before the Tigers wrapped up the Britons for 225. Bangladesh started their chase comfortably and was going on well until they started falling like bowling pins. Tiger supporters who chose to stick till the end witnessed one of the most successful 8th wicket partnership ever.

Whilst all this was going on I along with my friend (Sinto) were enjoying a special type of Maggie called the "BEER MAGGIE". It was the first time ever that we had tried it out and believe me it's the best snack to have with your drinks.

P.S. - Contact Sinto or me for further details on the recipe.

foursquare 3.0

A new Social Media site called foursquare is making lot of buzz in the market. Its a location-based social networking website, available to users with GPS enabled mobile devices, such as iPhones, Android mobile phones, Symbian devices and Blackberries. Users check-in at venues using the site through their mobile devices by running the device specific application and selecting from the list of venues that the application locates nearby. Each check-in awards the users some points and sometimes badges.

Millions of users turn to foursquare every day to help them find their friends and explore their world or even to avoid some of them. Whether checking out a new restaurant or visiting their favorite store, people are sharing their activities and loyalty with their social network, earning badges and points along the way.

foursquare has come up with its 3.0 version which introduces the recommendation feature in place of the tips tab enabling the users to post queries for recommendation. In my opinion this feature would work wonders  for restaurants in India as people believe in what others have to say. Also there could be a possibility of planting or seeding comments/recommendations as we are way ahead in doing jhols. Here is a sneak to the 3.0 foursquare application.

Poets Unfold

Washington Post - A TWO-LINE RHYME WITH THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE, BUT THE LEAST  ROMANTIC SECOND LINE

This is the winner:-
My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife,
Marrying you screwed up my life.

I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming.

Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;
This describes everything you are not.

I thought that I could love no other --
that is until I met your brother.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is your head.

I want to feel your sweet embrace;
But don't take that paper bag off your face.

I love your smile, your face, and your eyes --
Damn, I'm good at telling lies!

My love, you take my breath away.
What have you stepped in to smell this way?

My feelings for you no words can tell,
Except for maybe “'Go to hell.”'

What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Two parts tequila, one part lime

Fix this!!!

World Cup 2011 is turning out to be a hoax for me. To start with I was confident of Pakistan giving New Zealand some a** whooping (read previous performances). The best part was my friend who kept insisting that I put my money on Pakistan against him. Luckily being a guy who keeps his distance from quick fix methods of making a buck or two I declined this offer without much thought.

After New Zealand's disastrous start today my friend was still insisting that I bet on Pakistan. After declining his offer yet again he let the cat out of the bag; he got a tip that NZ was going to beat Pakistan.

After seeing the Pakistani bowlers (Shoaib, Razzak, Abdur R) being thrashed by Ross Taylor and J Oram  in the final overs resulting in the world's fastest 100 in just 29 balls ....The only thing that was going through my mind was why the h*** are they bowling to the set batsmen, Ross Taylor in the same spot over and over again yielding the same result.

My doubts were put to rest when Pakistan batted and fell like nine pins. I guess what needs to be pondered over is when a bowler like Umar Gul can bat with so much confidence....why are their so called batsmen failing to make the mark.

Any tips for the India - Ned match anyone???

Happy Women's Day !!!

International Women's Day (8 March ) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world and is also designated in many countries as a national holiday ( Sonia Gandhiji please take a note ). When women from all across the globe, often divided by national boundaries and by ethnic, linguistic, culture, economic and political differences, come together to celebrate their Day, they can look back to tradition that represents at least nine decades of struggle for equality, justice, peace and development.

Women are known for making or breaking someone's home/heart which could either lead to heaven or hell (Personally No Comments). Very rightly said "Behind every man's success there is a Women and Behind every failure there are many ".

Times have changed now....While in the 80's and early 90's, Women constituted 10 to 20% of the workforce, the same stands at 50% or above in a majority of organizations. Having women as colleagues requires a certain understanding and patience, which if absent, can mean an unhappy office. Women colleagues can play a very important role in anyone's professional career and business and on this important day of Women's Day, they surely deserve a bow from all men out there!  What Say Guys...?

India V/S Ireland

After England successfully defended their score of 171 against South Africa I was a bit skeptical about India beating Ireland but my friend Pratik was so sure that India would win. From that moment began a journey of prediction in which Pratik won it all. All his prediction came true which resulted in me paying our bill at Arun Bar.

Well here are the 5 predictions that came true
  1. Sehwag getting out in beginning
  2. 2nd  wicket going in the Twenties
  3. 3rd  wicket of Sachin would go in seventies on which I said that I would pay the bill even if the 3rd wicket  goes in the Eighties ( 3rd wicket goes at 87)
  4. Me predicting that if Sachin would get out in the Eighties then it would be taken by their youngest looking spinner Dockrell.
  5. Me predicting that Yuvraj would be not out till the end and would take the Man Of the Match

We were getting Goosebumps as our predictions were coming true as the game proceeded.

After all this happened finally the bill was paid by Pratik only (Lucky me) and then we had the yummy chicken leg pieces and the chicken biryani at Ahmed Bhai. Not surprisingly Yuvraj Singh gets the Man of the Match for his 5 wicket hall and his innings of 50 runs which I had already predicted.

Skype your Facebook Friends

When you're far apart, Skype provides a great way to communicate with family and friends no matter where they are. Now Facebook is giving a tough competition to Google by tying up with Skype for video calling. Soon you would be able to Skype your Facebook friends.

When it comes to two giants such as Facebook and Skype then you have to wonder how they would work together, rumors of both being in between chats for video calling have been re-ignited and to be honest it seems like a natural progression for Facebook. The companies hope to bring SMS, voice chat and Facebook Connect all together so you'll have no need to use any other service.

It would just be awesome if the talks work out and we get privileged by the combined services of Facebook and Skype.

Cleartrip coming a Zoomin

How does it feel when you get a Calender or Mug with your own Photo on it .....Good I guess.

How would you feel if the same Mug or calender with your own customized photo comes within 2-3 days through Blue Dart absolutely free of Cost....Great right?

I guess I felt the same way you are feeling right now till I received my first Mug and Calender free of cost from Zoomin. I had my doubts till I saw the Blue Dart guy at my door, package in hand. I guess needless to say I was sold. It was now natural for me to see Zoomin's products everywhere in my hostel and slowly but surely spreading amongst my friend circle.

Cleartrip came up with a contest at mypurpose.cleartrip.com which involved you the individual talking about a particular travel of yours and then uploading a photo of yourself on that particular trip. By doing so Cleartrip would mail you 2 vouchers, one for Cleartrip and the other for Zoomin. The Zoomin voucher could be used to order a Coffee Mug or a Desktop Calender ( 6X8 ) free of cost, other items could also be found with a certain amount of discount.

If you are convinced now just as I was dont wait. Go get your voucher from mypurpose.cleartrip.com and order your Zoomin product from www.zoomin.com today!!!

Wolfram Alfa

An interesting search engine called Wolfram Alfa introduces a fundamentally new way to get knowledge and answers—not by searching the web, but by doing dynamic computations based on a vast collection of built-in data, algorithms, and methods.WOLFRAM|ALPHA uses built-in knowledge curated by human experts to compute on the fly a specific answer to every query.
May be this tricks from Digital Inspiration will help you.  Do check out this awesome search engine/computation platform
Want to know the current time in London, or how much is 10 pounds in grams? Google can directly answer some of these common questions without requiring you to sift through pages and pages of links.
However, it is not the only tool that offers instant answers. Wolfram Alpha, a search engine developed by Stephen Wolfram, can solve a much wider array of problems and unlike Google, it doesn't require to type queries in any particular syntax. Here are some examples:
1. Your Location
where am i
A query like "where am i" will reveal your IP address and your current geographic location. Alternate queries that will get the same information about your computer include "who am i" and "what is my ip."
2. Date and Time
You would normally need an Excel spreadsheet and may have to learn some formulas to perform basic calculations involving date and time but not with Wolfram Alpha. The tool lets you work with dates using natural English (similar to Outlook Calendar).
add a date
countdown to christmas
Time Difference between Dates
If you are to calculate the number of days before your next holiday, use "how many days until <holiday name>". You can subtract dates  like regular numbers or compute new dates with natural phrases like "second saturday of next month" or "now + 10 days."
3. Food
Wolfram Alpha can instantly answer most of your food and nutrition related questions like how many calories are present in a bottle of Coke? Which is healthier – the french fries served at Burger King or the ones at McDonald's?
calories
compare food nutritional value
vitamins
4. Time Zones
You know that a query like "time in <city>" will display the current time of that city. This works for most search engines but Wolfram has an additional feature that works in reverse.
You can specify the time of any city and it will convert that time into your local timezone. This should be handy when a client suggests a meeting time using his timezone and you have to quickly figure out if that time works out for you.
timezone calculation
5. Astronomy
If you are a fan of Astronomy, you'll absolutely love Wolfram Alpha and it can compute the position of stars and planets for any given day.
The tool can tell you the exact dates for astronomical events like when the next solar eclipse will take place while a specific query like "solar eclipse in new york" will show you the date for the next eclipse that will be visible from New York.
next solar eclipse
star positions
6. Finance
Want to know the number of people who are working for a particular company. Wolfram Alpha can get this information and more using simple queries like "market cap of Apple" or "revenue of Google." You may also use the tool to query past stock prices and indices.
stock prices
employee information
7. Colors
What do you get when you pour some red paint in a bucket of yellow paint? What's the HTML and RGB equivalent of Purple?
colors
8. Comparisons
Wolfram|Alpha is an excellent tool for performing comparisons and it presents results in a neat table making it easy for you to interpret the data.
You may compare almost anything and everything from airports, universities, size of popular structures (Statue of Liberty vs Eiffel Tower), quantities (10 lb vs 12 kg), stock quotes, sales tax rates in various cities, sports teams, and even standard paper sizes.
compare paper sizes
9. Weather
Most search engines offer weather forecast for the next 7 or 10 days but with Wolfram Alpha, you can get historic weather conditions of a city as well for any given date.
And unlike Google which will only give you sunrise and sunset times for the next day, Wolfram Alpha can compute that information for any past and future date.
weather in london
sunrise time
10. Understand Relations
This is one of my favorites. Put it any complex family relationship – like your mother's sister's son's wife's father – and Wolfram will map it into a genealogical tree making it easier for you make sense of that relation.
family relations
These are just some uses of the very-awesome Wolfram|Alpha. Do check this page for more examples and then go here to add Wolfram to your browser's search box.
